The photography world welcomes a significant upgrade in portable lighting with the official launch of the Godox AD100Pro II Pocket Flash. This new device builds upon the success of its popular predecessor, offering enhanced functionalities that cater to photographers seeking both mobility and robust performance.
Crafted to meet the demands of modern imaging professionals, the AD100Pro II is a 100-watt-second flash unit that provides a versatile nine-stop power range, from 1/256 to full output. A key innovation is its active internal fan, part of a redesigned cooling system, which dramatically boosts sustained performance. This allows the unit to fire approximately 60 to 100 full-power flashes consecutively without overheating. Furthermore, its rapid recycling times, as quick as 0.01 seconds at lower power settings and about 1.5 seconds at full power, ensure photographers can capture fast-paced action with ease. The device maintains a consistent 5600K color temperature, ensuring color accuracy across various shooting scenarios. A 5-watt LED modeling lamp with ten brightness levels facilitates precise lighting previews. Compatible with modern mirrorless and DSLR workflows, the AD100Pro II supports multiple flash modes and high-speed sync up to 1/8000s, offering extensive creative control for diverse photographic styles.
Connectivity and user experience are at the forefront of the AD100Pro II's design. Its integrated wireless receiver supports both 2.4 GHz and 433 MHz frequencies, boasting a transmission range of up to 100 meters. The flash offers 32 channels and 16 controllable groups, ensuring seamless integration with existing Godox X-series and Flashpoint R2 transmitters. A notable enhancement is the 16-color group indicator ring, which simplifies group identification in multi-light setups, complemented by an upgraded TFT display for clearer menu navigation. Powering these features is a 7.2-volt lithium-ion polymer battery, rechargeable via USB-C, delivering approximately 490 full-power flashes on a single charge. The AD100Pro II also features a magnetic accessory mount for quick attachment of modifiers, and with an optional S3 adapter, it can accommodate larger, Bowens-mount light-shaping tools. Despite these advanced capabilities, the flash remains exceptionally portable, weighing about 564 grams and measuring 12.2 × 7.6 × 7.6 centimeters, making it an ideal companion for photographers on the go.
This latest iteration of the AD100Pro II demonstrates a commitment to refining an already excellent product, rather than merely redesigning it. The improved cooling, intuitive controls, and expanded wireless features significantly enhance its utility, especially for complex lighting configurations and fast-paced environments. The AD100Pro II is poised to empower photographers to achieve their creative visions with greater efficiency and reliability.
