Empowering Young Hearts to Give During the Giving Season
Teaching Generosity through Food Drive
For the past four years, Little Leprechaun Preschool has been at the forefront of showing generosity and community service. The preschool's "Giving Season" event aims to gather a wide variety of non-perishable food items such as canned goods, rice, pasta, and more. By doing so, they hope to support families facing food shortages. As Lisa Troshynski, the Para-Professional, said, "We kind of like to teach the kids there is always someone less fortunate than you. We like to teach them to give more to people who are less fortunate than them." This experience helps young people understand the challenges others face and encourages them to share the importance of giving with their parents. It's hard for children to fully grasp these concepts initially, but through this food drive, they start to realize the impact their actions can have. As Troshynski further explained, "It’s hard for them sometimes to think they have some friends that don’t have any food and that will hit home to them, and they’ll take that home to their parents."Christmas Season Tradition: "Baby Gifts to Jesus"
During the Christmas season, the preschool has a special tradition of gathering "Baby Gifts to Jesus." These gifts are donated to the North Platte Women’s Resource Center, which provides support to families with newborns and young children. This tradition adds an extra layer of meaning to the holiday season, showing that giving is not just about food but also about caring for others in different ways. The preschool's efforts in organizing these events and teaching valuable lessons are truly commendable. They are making a positive impact on the lives of both children and the community at large. Through their annual Food Drive and Christmas tradition, Little Leprechaun Preschool is setting an example of kindness and generosity that will continue to inspire for years to come.
