Nikon ME-D10 Compact Shotgun Microphone for ZR Camera Now Available

Nikon has launched its ME-D10 compact shotgun microphone, an accessory for the ZR cinema camera, which was initially showcased in September. This new microphone is now widely accessible in retail outlets.

As reported by Nikon Rumors, the ME-D10 is now stocked at various retailers, including B&H, where it's priced at $336.95. The Nikon ZR camera itself boasts an impressive audio feature: its integrated microphone supports 32-bit float audio recording, a capability typically found in high-end external microphones. Despite this, an external microphone, such as the ME-D10, offers enhanced audio performance.

The ME-D10 connects directly to the ZR camera's digital accessory shoe, drawing power from the camera without needing separate batteries or cables. It also supports 32-bit float recording and includes a built-in shock mount. Users can choose between two intelligent recording modes: 'Pure' mode provides unfiltered audio capture from 40 Hz to 20 kHz, while 'Focus' mode, with a frequency response of 90 Hz to 20 kHz, is optimized for clearer voice pickup. The microphone's pickup pattern can be adjusted between front cardioid, rear cardioid, or omnidirectional via a switch. Nikon emphasizes the ME-D10's user-friendly design, highlighting its compact size and the convenience of not requiring additional cables or power sources. The Nikon ZR camera, a 6K full-frame hybrid camera, is also currently available at a competitive price of $2,196.95, offering features like a 24-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 4-inch display, RED color science, and 6Kp60 12-bit RAW internal recording.
