Nikon and RED have joined forces to introduce a remarkable suite of 'Imaging Recipes' for a selection of Nikon Z Series cameras, enhancing the creative possibilities for photographers and videographers. This collaboration brings a cinematic aesthetic directly into the camera, allowing creators to achieve sophisticated visual styles with unprecedented ease.
In a highly anticipated announcement on December 10, 2025, Nikon and RED officially rolled out their cutting-edge 'Imaging Recipes' designed for compatible Nikon Z Series cameras. This includes models such as the Z6 III, Z5 II, Z50 II, Zf, and the latest video-centric Nikon ZR. The release features a total of twelve new recipes: nine meticulously crafted by RED, categorized under the overarching 'CineBias' family, and an additional trio developed by renowned professional creators.
The RED-designed 'CineBias' recipes are engineered to impart a distinct cinematic flavor, leveraging the combined technological prowess of both Nikon and RED. As articulated by Nikon, this initiative aims to deliver a "truly unique look that provides richer, more compelling visual expression than ever before." The comprehensive collection of nine RED-developed recipes encompasses a diverse range of styles, including CineBias, CineBias-T — Cool Atmosphere, CineBias-C — Crisp Teal, CineBias-CC — Noir Vibes, CineBias WC — Grit & Glow, CineBias-TC — Green Edge Experimental, CineBiasOffset, CineBias Achromic, and CineBias BleachBypass.
It's crucial to distinguish these new 'Imaging Recipes' from the LUTs (Look-Up Tables) previously released by RED for Nikon cameras in September 2024. While LUTs are primarily intended for post-processing N-Log video footage, offering flexibility for adjustment and removal, the 'Imaging Recipes' are applied directly within the camera during capture. This means the chosen aesthetic is 'baked' into the resulting photos and videos, making them ready for immediate sharing. However, this convenience comes with a trade-off: 'Imaging Recipes' are not compatible with log video or RAW images, which limits editing flexibility in post-production. The primary advantage of 'Imaging Recipes' is their ability to streamline the creative workflow, enabling users to produce polished, cinematic-quality content with minimal effort. Accessing these recipes involves downloading them from the Nikon Imaging Cloud and installing them onto a connected camera.
Beyond RED's contributions, three new 'Imaging Recipes' from esteemed professional creators have also been introduced: 'Vintage Film' by Ludwig Favre evokes a warm, nostalgic feel; 'Golden Brown' by Siinapse enhances outdoor scenes with rich golden tones; and 'Movie Green Orange' by Instant Film Studio offers a clean, natural look with reduced contrast. All these new 'Imaging Recipes,' alongside nearly a hundred others, are currently available for download directly from the Nikon Imaging Cloud.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in simplifying the creation of high-quality cinematic visuals for Nikon Z Series users. By integrating these advanced color profiles and stylistic adjustments directly into the camera, Nikon and RED are empowering creators to achieve professional-grade results more efficiently than ever before.
