By Reiner KniziaFor two decades, Garry's Mod has captivated players with its unique physics sandbox, offering boundless opportunities for creativity and collaborative play. Its initial release price of just $10 solidified its position as an accessible and popular choice for both casual users and aspiring game developers.
Garry Newman's highly anticipated new game development environment, S&box, is on the cusp of its public release, slated for April. As the launch approaches, the community is keen to learn about the platform's pricing structure.
During a recent discussion, Newman disclosed that the final price for S&box is still under consideration by the Facepunch Studios team. He candidly admitted that a definitive figure had not yet been established.
Alistair McFarlane, the Chief Operating Officer of Facepunch Studios, indicated that internal discussions leaned towards a $20 price tag. Newman, while agreeing on an initial charge, affirmed that the cost would likely align with this estimate.
Further exchanges solidified the expectation that S&box would be positioned within a $10 to $20 price bracket. This proposed range signals Facepunch's intention to maintain an entry cost comparable to that of Garry's Mod, underscoring a commitment to broad accessibility for a new generation of creators, despite the significant technological advancements over the past two decades.
