Luis Betances, the owner, shared that since February, they have been working towards getting approvals for the park and are now in the process of obtaining approval for a new lot where they plan to move the park. After obtaining the special use permit from county commissioners, the Food Truck Park is ready to take the next steps. As Luis Betances mentioned, they are still working on the new lot, and it is expected to take another month for the permit to be finalized. Once that is done, they can look forward to enjoying the fruits of their labor. The deputy director of Growth Services, Kenneth Weyrauch, informed TV20 that the special use permit is valid for two years. During this time, they aim to move the park to a larger lot with more amenities such as better access, parking, and a permanent facility including water, sewer, and permanent lighting. This will transform the park into a much nicer spot.However, there are certain requirements that the owners must adhere to. Currently, there are 20 food trucks at the park. County officials have stated that if food trucks leave, the maximum allowed number will be 15. Additionally, they are required to add restrooms with air conditioning to the property. Kenneth Weyrauch explained that the owners need to have at least 2 trailers within the next month and complete the calculations based on the number of food trucks and parking spaces by the end of the year to determine the number of restroom trailers needed.
