These photographs collectively illustrate the expanding international scope of the Nature inFocus Awards, which initially began as a national competition within India. The 2025 awards featured a comprehensive range of categories designed to capture various facets of nature photography. These included Animal Behavior, which showcased dynamic interactions and survival instincts within the animal kingdom; Animal Portraits, focusing on the unique personalities and features of individual creatures; and the newly introduced Coexistence category, exploring the intricate relationships between wildlife and human environments. Other categories encompassed Conservation, highlighting pressing environmental issues; Creative Nature, for innovative artistic interpretations of the natural world; Wildscape and Animals in Their Habitat, capturing animals within their broader landscapes; Young Photographer, nurturing emerging talent under 17 years old; and the prestigious Portfolio category, recognizing a body of exceptional work.
Winners and runners-up were celebrated across all categories, with the exception of the Portfolio category, which solely honors a single triumphant entry. Amit Eschel's 'Ancient Rivals' claimed victory in the Animal Behavior category, depicting a stark encounter between an Arctic wolf and muskoxen. The runner-up in this category was Kashyap Naresh Raval with 'Catch of the Day,' illustrating a spider's unusual prey. In Animal Portraits, Federica Cordero's 'The Canopy Watcher' captivated judges with its intimate portrayal of a gorilla, while Amit Eschel also earned a runner-up spot with 'The Curious Six,' showcasing a family of Pallas's cats. The Coexistence category saw Sarthak Agrawal's 'Urban Oasis' emerge as the winner, capturing flamingos against a city skyline, and Kasim Mohammed's 'Everyone’s Field' recognized as the runner-up. The Ramki Sreenivasan Conservation Photography Award was given to Rajat Chordia and Vidhan Dwivedi for 'Edge of Two Worlds,' a powerful image of a leopard surrounded by waste, with Guru Raju's 'After the Offering' as the runner-up. Creative Nature celebrated Bidyut Kalita's ethereal 'Blue Aura,' alongside Raghuvamsh Chavali's 'Patterns in the Sky' as runner-up. Sergey Bystritsky's 'Thief in the Spotlight' took the top prize in Wildscape and Animals in Their Habitat, with Pratik Pradhan's 'Green Within Green' as runner-up. The Young Photographer category's top honor went to Tinnapat Netcharussaeng for 'Nautilus on the Move,' and Danuja Palihawadana Arachchi's 'Race to the Forest' secured the runner-up position. The Portfolio category's sole winner was Rukhiya Mohammed for 'Echoes From the Eastern Ghats,' presenting a series of impactful images.
